    Teeth whitening

    The color of teeth by nature may not have whiteness, or change the shade over time under the influence of various factors. But there is a solution – teeth whitening. Modern dental methods are safe and do not have the significant negative effect that followed the chemical brightening of enamel used in the recent past.

    What methods of teeth whitening are there?

    Professional teeth whitening procedure is performed using special tools and devices. Methods are distinguished according to the method of influencing the tooth enamel, as well as the effectiveness of the result.

    Teeth whitening methods:

    • Laser. Allows to whiten tooth enamel by 5-7 tones.
    • Ultrasonic. Effective for whitening teeth up to 8 tones.
    • Photo bleaching. The most effective technique that gives the result of enamel lightening up to 10 tones.

    Here at Brickell Dental Care we are using the most modern and effective way to make your teeth whiter: Philips Zoom

    Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed, the No. 1 patient-requested professional whitening brand1, is clinically proven to whiten teeth up to eight shades in 45 minutes.

    All methods of the procedure involve the use of a special gel, which is applied to the tooth enamel, and then shone through with a special light. The gel reacts with the pigment in the tooth enamel, eliminating dark shades.

    Home methods (gels, pastes, strips, etc.) or the Air flow method are used as methods of enamel lightening by 1-2 tones, which are distinguished by a more gentle action. It is not recommended to resort to home whitening without first consulting a dentist and using professional products. The procedure can lead to burns of the mucous membrane, intoxication and damage to the enamel. The effect of self-lightening teeth does not justify the risks.

    When is it better to stop bleaching?

    The procedure for whitening tooth enamel is not always safe for the health of teeth and the whole body. There are a number of restrictions under which it is better to postpone the procedure or refuse it altogether.

    Relative contraindications:

    • inflammatory, infectious or viral diseases of the oral cavity;
    • respiratory diseases;
    • pregnancy and lactation period;
    • bite treatment with braces;
    • taking strong medications.

    Depending on the method of whitening, absolute contraindications may differ, but any procedure is not performed for children under 16 years of age, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, with mental disorders and the risks of allergy to the drug used.

    How long does Philips Zoom whitening last?

    How long does the results of Zoom at-home whitening last? Your teeth will be white for approximately six to twelve months, after which they will gradually return to their previous colour.

    Is Philips Zoom safe?

    We use Philips Zoom teeth whitening treatments because it provides rapid whitening results up to eight shades lighter, and it is safe to use. While it may be tempting to try out at-home or over-the-counter products, you can ensure a safe whitening treatment under my supervision.

    Is Zoom teeth whitening painful?

    Zoom whitening is not a painful procedure; however there may occasionally be minor discomfort due to tooth sensitivity in some patients afterwards. If present, this tooth sensitivity is typically gone within a day of undergoing the Zoom procedure.

    Is Zoom whitening permanent?

    Is Zoom Whitening permanent? No. Certain foods, drinks, and tobacco will still stain your teeth – even following the procedure. Avoiding items like coffee, carbonated drinks, soy sauce, pasta sauce, and red and white wine can help you maintain your newly whitened teeth.

    How long after Zoom Can I drink coffee?

    Anything that can stain a white shirt will more than likely stain your teeth. The best thing you can do to help with the whitening process is to avoid dark liquids and foods for 48 hours after a Zoom whitening treatment. Of course, an option is to use a straw when drinking dark liquids such as wine and coffee and tea.
